A French carpenter’s all-wooden recreation of a vintage 1955 Citroen 2CV sold at auction for $224,440, CBS News reported.
Michel Robillard, 74, built the vehicle—which is fully operational and can reach up to 50 miles per hour—using wood harvested from fruit trees. The main body is apple and pear wood, while the front and back of the car are walnut. The base for the doors and trunk is cherry wood, according to CBS. The first 2CV, which Robillard modeled the wooden vehicle after, was manufactured in Europe in 1948. Robillard began working on the project in 2011 and was able to begin driving it in 2017.
The one-of-a-kind vehicle was valued at between $160,000 and $214,000 before the sale. See more photos of the vehicle here.
