Decorative Hardwoods Association signed a memorandum with the U.S. Forest Service to help document the carbon benefits of wood products for the public.
The initiative brings together wood industry groups, including the American Wood Council and Hardwood Federation, to develop a publicly accessible platform for “accessing and estimating forest and harvested wood carbon.”
The project will aid in marketing wood products, according to DHA President Keith Christman.
“This data will be essential in the coming years as we compete against fake materials with higher carbon emissions for government and commercial projects,” Christman added in a statement.
