Small business optimism rose to 101.7 points in November, breaking 34 months of remaining below the 50-year average of 98, the National Federation of Independent Business’ Small Business Optimism Index report found.
Optimism rose 8 points from October to November, the highest reading since June 2021.
“The election results signal a major shift in economic policy, leading to a surge in optimism among small business owners,” NFIB Chief Economist Bill Dunkelberg said in a statement. “Owners are particularly hopeful for tax and regulation policies that favor strong economic growth as well as relief from inflationary pressures.”
The survey found a net 14% of business owners believe it is a good time to expand their business. This is an 8-point increase from October and also the highest reading since June 2021.
