Lumber Liquidators will move its headquarters to Lawrenceberg, Tenn., from the Richmond, Va., area, according to an announcement from Tennessee Governor Bill Lee, Deputy Governor and Department of Economic and Community Development Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter and Lumber Liquidators officials.
The move will reportedly create 76 jobs and bring a $32.4 million investment into Lawrence County. It will also align shipping schedules and distribution efforts with Lumber Liquidators’ Lawrenceberg-based parent company F9 Brands, which operates sister company Cabinets To Go in Lawrenceberg.
Richmond BizSense reported that Lumber Liquidators needed to vacate its massive 1 million-square-foot home base and warehouse in Sandston, Va., which was sold during its bankruptcy to data center giant QTS for $104 million, because QTS will now occupy the space.
“After moving our Cabinets To Go distribution and headquarters to Lawrenceburg in 2016, we found Tennessee to be a great place to operate a growing business,” Lumber Liquidators founder and chairman Tom Sullivan said in a statement. “We are excited to now add Lumber Liquidators national distribution to the area, which will bring our two brands together into one location, providing greater operational efficiency and allowing us to continue to offer customers the best price on cabinets and flooring.”
Sullivan told Richmond BizSense that he’s in the process of consolidating a number of the two brands’ stores, and that will result in about 60 combined locations nationwide. Lumber Liquidators currently has around 200 locations, while Cabinets To Go has around 100.
