This issue's tip comes from Reuben Dahlquist, owner at R.A. Dahlquist Enterprises in Brooklyn Park, Minn.
When sanding, screening and edging floors, I got tired of having to manage the vacuum hose while also having to move the power cord out of the way. Then one day while I was wandering down the aisle of our local farm supply store, I found these Velcro cow leg bands, which are wide and plenty long to secure the cord to the hose. With the cord attached to the hose, there is zero chance of inadvertently trashing the power cord with the abrasive. You can just "fahggetaboutit." If there is no farm supply store around, folks can find the 1⁄2-inch-wide cable ties in 8 inches or longer lengths at the big box home improvement stores, or just Google "wide Velcro straps."
