Don Jewell got into the flooring industry in 1993 as an apprentice for a wood flooring contractor in Minnesota. In 1997, he opened his own wood floor contracting business. He ran this until 2008 when he made the decision to leave contracting and work for a manufacturer. What really drove him to this decision was the ability to share his experience and product knowledge with others. This component of the industry is what drove him to keep moving forward. Don spent two years as a technical sales representative for LOBA Wakol, LLC in North Carolina and was given a “next level” opportunity with Capri cork to work as their Technical Manager. Again, there was a great opportunity to teach and share. In 2017 Don had the opportunity to return to LOBA Wakol as their “Head of Technical” and he jumped at the chance to be part of that growth process.
Don has always said “When I made to decision to leave contracting, I had to really look at what part of this industry really motivated me. It always came back to the teaching and mentoring part of this trade. Seeing a new craftsman “get it” for the first time is what always gets me excited.
