3M (St. Paul, Minn.) has acquired Natick, Mass.-based Hybrivet Systems Inc., maker of the lead detection device LeadCheck Swabs. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. According to a 3M release, the acquisition of Hybrivet Systems provides the company immediate access to the potentially large market for testing coatings for lead in older homes to meet the EPA's Renovation, Repair and Painting (RRP) rule.

Hybrivet Systems employs 11 people.
