MAPEI Expands into South Korea

MAPEI has expanded into South Korea with the acquisition of adhesives and building products manufacturer Henkel, which is sold in South Korea under the Ceresit and Thomsit trademarks. The acquisition was made through the newly established MAPEI Korea, with headquarters in Seoul and a production facility in Chungcheongbuk-do. The new company will be managed by MAPEI's regional headquarters in Singapore, which is under the guidance of Marcel Smit.

MAPEI Korea will continue to manufacture products under the Ceresit and Thomsit trademarks for a maximum of three years, after which the products will be joined with the larger MAPEI product range. According to MAPEI, the expansion falls within the framework of a €200-million investment program in the Asia-Pacific region, which includes Oceania.

MAPEI opened a distribution center in Mexico in December.
