Wood Floor Unlimited Goes Solar Before Coal Plants Shutdown

Wood Floors Unlimited (Shreve, Ohio) recently installed a solar electric system on the roof of its operations.

The 12 kW photovoltaic system, designed and set up by Paradise Energy Solutions, will put out 13,000 kWh's of electricity annually-about 85 percent of the company's electricity usage.

Next year, a number of coal-powered plants in Ohio are expected to go offline, owner Steve Yoder said, so the investment in solar panels will help offset the inevitable increase in energy costs due to decreased supply.

"Electric rates are poised to rise," Yoder said in a statement. "Solar energy is part of the solution to safe, clean and competitively-priced power now and going forward."

With the solar energy system installed, the company has virtually locked in its electric costs for the next 30 years, it said.
