An update on the European Union Timber Regulation implementation showed that almost all EU countries are currently in compliance, according to the European Commission.
The update shows only four countries are not in 100 percent compliance. However, those countries, Spain, Romania, Greece and Hungary, are currently in the process of fulfilling their regulatory obligations and are each two-thirds of the way to full compliance.
The EUTR places requirements on entities that sell and buy timber products within the EU and is intended to promote sustainable management of forests outside the EU. Read more about the EUTR in HF’s Green Blog.
The European Commission released the implementation update as a table, which can be viewed online.
