Construction spending in April was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1,133.9 billion, 1.8 percent below March’s rate of $1,155.1 billion but 4.5 percent above the April 2015 rate of $1,085.0 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Spending on private construction in April was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $843.1 billion, down 1.5 percent from the March rate of $855.9 billion.
Residential construction was at a rate of $439.7 billion, 1.5 percent below the March rate of $446.3 billion. Nonresidential construction was reported at a rate of $403.5 billion, also 1.5 percent below March’s $409.6 billion rate.
