Construction spending in July was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1,153.2 billion, virtually unchanged from the June rate of $1,153.5 billion and 1.5 percent higher than the rate of $1,135.9 billion in July 2015, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Private construction in July was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $875.0 billion, a 1 percent increase from June’s rate of $866.5 billion.
Residential construction was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $445.5 billion, 0.3 percent above June’s rate of $444.0 billion. Nonresidential construction was at a rate of $429.5 billion, an increase of 1.7 percent compared with June’s rate of $422.5.
