Wayne Daniel retired this summer after 42 years of working in the flooring industry, his last 11 spent in sales with Maxwell Hardwood Flooring.
“It’s been a great 42 years and I’ve seen many ups and downs in this industry,” Daniel said in a statement. “I’ve enjoyed working with and meeting a great group of people in this industry, including everyone from Maxwell Hardwood Flooring, who have been so kind and helpful. I feel very thankful and blessed to have had such a long and rewarding career.”
Daniel’s career began in production at Bruce Hardwood Flooring in 1974. He moved into sales there and eventually left to do sales for Robbins Flooring. After spending many years on the road, he and a partner opened the Bluegrass Flooring Mill in Kentucky in the early ’90s. He sold his half of the business in 1996 and went into sales with Southeastern Hardwood Distribution before retiring—or so he thought.
His wife told him, “Go back to work!” according to his LinkedIn profile, so he starting working for Maxwell in 2005.
“In this industry, you rarely find someone who has the experience and passion that Wayne Daniel has,” said Tommy Maxwell, president and CEO of Maxwell, in a statement. “He had 20 years of experience in production and 20 years in sales and he did an excellent job for Maxwell Hardwood Flooring. He cared about this company and he had a great rapport with customers. Wayne will be sorely missed, but we wish him all the best in this new and exciting chapter in his life.”
