China imported 25.89 million cubic meters of logs in the first half of 2017, an annual increase of 8.3 percent in volume and 14 percent in value, according to Fordaq.
For hardwood logs, imports grew 7.6 percent year-over-year to 8.38 million cubic meters (295.93 million cubic feet) in the first half of 2017. The average price for imported hardwood logs was $269 per cubic meter, up 3 percent from the same period in 2016.
New Zealand accounted for 24 percent of all log imports, followed by Russia at 23 percent.
