Construction spending in October was at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of $1,241.5 billion, a 1.4 percent increase compared with September’s rate of $1,224.6 billion, and 2.9 percent higher than October 2016’s rate of $1,206.6 billion, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

Residential construction was at a rate of $517.7 billion, a 0.4 percent increase from September’s rate of $515.4 billion. Nonresidential construction was at a rate of $432.2 billion, less than 1 percent higher than the September rate of $428.4 billion.
