The Environmental Protection Agency withdrew the direct final rule regarding formaldehyde emission standards for composite wood products on Dec. 8 because the agency wants to consider adverse public comments submitted during the comment period that ended Nov. 9.
The direct final rule included updates to the standards in the initial rule released in December 2016. For example, the rule replaced a number of ASTM tests for determining formaldehyde emissions with newer versions of those same tests.
The dates to comply with the formaldehyde emissions standards are not impacted.
