Canada Imposes 10 Percent Tariffs on U.S. Plywood

In response to new U.S. tariffs on Canadian steel and aluminum, on May 31 Canada announced it will impose new tariffs on several U.S. products, including a 10 percent surtax on U.S. plywood.

Every year the U.S. exports $83 million-worth of hardwood plywood to Canada and imports $200 million from Canada, according to the Decorative Hardwoods Association.

On May 31 President Donald Trump imposed tariffs of 25 percent on imports of certain steel products from Canada and tariffs of 10 percent on select aluminum products from Canada.
