Shaw to Close Engineered Wood Flooring Plant in Clinton, S.C.

Shaw Industries (Dalton, Ga.) is closing its engineered wood flooring plant in Clinton, S.C., shifting the plant’s production to other company operations in the Southeast.

Shaw said the move is in order to “most effectively meet customer needs.” The plant is slated to cease operations by mid-August.

The Clinton plant’s closing will impact 120 employees. Shaw said they will have the opportunity to apply for open positions at other Shaw locations in South Carolina, including in Columbia and Aiken. “Supporting associates during this transition is our highest priority,” Shaw Senior VP of Human Resources Mark Hartline said in a statement.

Anderson Hardwood previously owned and operated the facility until Anderson was purchased by Shaw in 2007. In 2018, Shaw merged Anderson with Tuftex Carpets, creating Anderson Tuftex.

In March, Shaw sold all of its solid hardwood flooring assets to Beasley Flooring (Macon, Ga.) for an undisclosed sum.
