The 10-City Composite annual increase was 2.4% in December, and the 20-City Composite annual increase was 2.9%.
Phoenix, Charlotte, N.C., and Tampa, Fla., had the highest year-over-year gains among the 20 cities, growing 6.5%, 5.3% and 5.2%, respectively.
December’s home price growth marked the eighth consecutive year of increasing housing prices, according to S&P Dow Jones Indices spokesman Craig Lazzara.
“At the national level, home prices are 59% above the trough reached in February 2012, and 15% above their pre-financial crisis peak,” Lazzara said in a statement.
