Supervisors, salaried operators and maintenance and support staff are being fully or partially furloughed, and union employees are being laid off according to agreed upon provisions, according to the report.
“The current pandemic situation has impacted hardwood flooring demand significantly, and as a result, has forced AHF to reassess its workforce needs,” Beverly plant manager Blaine Emery said in a statement. “We understand the impact these layoffs will have on the families of those affected and look forward to getting people back to work as soon as we can.”
AHF is considered an essential business in states it operates in and is able to continue operating. The company has also enacted a hiring freeze and a suspension of its match for employees in the 401K plan, according to the report, which also says that remaining employees will receive a pay cut.
