New York added the most construction jobs with 42,000 (14%), while Massachusetts had the largest percentage increase, rising 16.3% with 19,700 construction jobs.
Construction employment declined in 18 states during the period and was unchanged in Alaska.
Louisiana lost the most construction jobs with a decline of 3,900 (3.1%), while Nevada had the highest percentage decline, falling 3.5% with 3,500 jobs lost.
Compared with June 2019, construction employment increased in 15 states, with year-over-year declines in 34 states and D.C., with no changes in Wyoming.
AGC expects more project cancellations and potential layoffs in the near future due to flare-ups of COVID-19 in most states.
