An administrative law judge has ruled to uphold OSHA’s citations and penalties for a hardwood flooring manufacturer after the manufacturer contested them.
Fulton, N.Y.-based Timberline Hardwood Floors LLC was fined in $182,917 in July 2018 for a series of safety violations at its hardwood flooring plant, including failure to implement “lockout-tagout” procedures, train forklift operators, repair exposed electrical circuits and develop hearing conservation and chemical communication programs. The proposed fine was later reduced by OSHA to $166,265 due to the size of the company, according to the judge’s ruling.
Timberline contested the fine to the review commission last year, and hearings were held in December 2019. The judge’s July 9 decision affirmed each of OSHA’s citations against the company.
