3M (St. Paul, Minn.) has reached a resolution in a lawsuit filed against several companies accused of selling fake, defective or damaged respirator products on Amazon at grossly inflated prices.
The federal case was filed in California against KM Brothers Inc., KMJ Trading Inc., Supreme Sunrise Inc., and Mao Yu and third-party Zhiju USA Inc. The resolution of the lawsuit requires the defendants to pay more than $192,000, which 3M said it will donate to COVID-19 relief.
3M collaborated with Amazon to identify and halt the scheme.
3M has filed 18 lawsuits to fight fraud, price gouging and counterfeiting of its products since the pandemic spurred an overwhelming demand for respirators.
