Jeff Rose, who co-founded influential Newport, Ky.-based Mansion Hill Custom Floors, died Friday, Aug. 19, after a two-year battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a form of cancer.
Jeff Rose, who co-founded influential Newport, Ky.-based Mansion Hill Custom Floors, died Friday, Aug. 19, after a two-year battle with cholangiocarcinoma, a form of cancer.
Rose began his hardwood flooring career in 1993 after more than four years of service in the U.S. Navy. He launched Mansion Hill Custom Floors in Newport with his friend Bill Walz in 2011, later expanding the company into Nashville.
Rose was a trainer through the National Wood Flooring Association, and he regularly provided free CEUs to architects and designers. He was active in the American Institute of Architects Cincinnati Chapter and the American Society of Interior Designers’ South Ohio/Kentucky and Tennessee chapters.
In 2021, Rose’s Mansion Hill Custom Floors received the WFB Outstanding Retailer Award, an award given out to exemplary retailers in the hardwood flooring industry. He was also featured in a 2018 issue of WFB for demonstrating the art of “shou sugi ban” wood floors.
Rose died at his home and is survived by his wife Lee Ann, and their son, Jake. In 2015, Jake joined Mansion Hill Custom Floors, where he works as a crew leader and finisher.
A visitation for Rose will take place Aug. 25 from 3–6 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Fort Thomas, Ky.
