A shuttered hardwood flooring plant in Oneida, Tenn., has become a popular target for burglary, with six people charged in two separate cases in just the last week, the Independent Herald reported.
The property, once a bustling manufacturing hub employing hundreds, was exchanged between multiple corporate hands over the decades—including Hartco and Armstrong Flooring. It ceased its strip mill, finish line and yard operations in 2010 and was used to manufacture floor cleaners by the time it was shuttered by AHF Products in September 2022.
Today, it’s owned by the Industrial Development Board of Scott County and has been targeted for copper wiring theft and vandalism. Six crane hooks were also allegedly stolen from the site.
The site is now being regularly patrolled by the Oneida Police Department, according to the Independent Herald.
