Dutch artist Jakko Woudenberg’s wood floor version of Rembrandt’s ‘The Night Watch’ arrived in Orlando, Fla., from the Netherlands in time for the NWFA Expo at Orange County Convention Center, according to a Facebook post by well-known wood floor pro and instructor Lenny Hall. Hall organized the GoFundMe campaign that raised the $20,000 needed to ship the 195,000-plus wood pixel replica for the Expo taking place April 21–23.
Woudenberg will also be present and will speak to expo attendees on Thursday, April 23 at 9:15 a.m. about his installation and the art of wood flooring.
“To have played a part in helping Jakko get ‘The Night Watch in Wood’ to the U.S. through GoFundMe has been very special to me,” Hall told WFB. “Not only because the initial goal was achieved, but because it showed I am part of a huge community that is passionate about our craft in its many forms and for the unconditional support and camaraderie we have for each other.”
Hall will reset the original GoFundMe page to raise more funds to send the piece on tour across the U.S.
