Social media trends and platforms are perpetually changing, but one thing doesn’t: People like a free giveaway. It’s something Kristin Keeton of Charlotte, Mich.-based Custom Home Interiors discovered when she launched a giveaway post on her company’s Facebook page in an effort to grow its number of followers. To enter the giveaways, followers have to share the posts. “The goal was to have clients who already like our page share it with their family and friends,” Keeton says. She also made it a requirement that winners of the giveaway pick up their prize—area rugs the company buys in bulk—at the company’s showroom. Keeton says she tends to gain around 50 or more new followers with every giveaway post that she boosts for $10. It’s been a simple, effective way to bring new, local consumers into the physical showroom, too. “It lets everyone know more about the products we carry,” Keeton says.
