Quicksand Flooring's YouTube channel.
Social media success didn’t come overnight for Hastings, Australia-based Quicksand Flooring.
The sand and finish flooring company has gathered almost 200,000 followers across its
Instagram, TikTok and YouTube accounts and has amassed millions of views on its videos. The
company has been on social media since 2017 but didn’t start seeing these results until 2023
when co-owner Madelein Tracy developed a content plan for the company’s accounts. Tracy found
success in short-form video content, especially of before-and-after clips of floor sanding jobs.
But finding their content niche took “a lot of hard work.” Tracy says. “Many late nights have been
spent editing videos and early mornings being on site filming content.” Finding your content niche
can take a lot of trial and error, but Tracy says consistent posting and engagement has also been
key to their social media growth. “Have some sort of content plan detailing how often and when to
post,” Tracy recommends. “Engage with your followers, reply to their comments and answer their
messages. Share everyday parts of your business to Stories.” This social media success has also
translated into “incredible” growth for the company. “We have never been booked out for floor
sanding jobs this far in advance,” Tracy says. “And our online supplies shop selling all the varnish
and tools we use has skyrocketed.”
