After spending months at a temporary location after a May fire destroyed its headquarters, Philadelphia Floor Store has secured a permanent warehouse facility in King of Prussia, Pa.
The new facility is 45,000 square feet and sits on 3.36 acres—twice as large as the previous facility, which will allow the company to undergo a planned expansion.
The new facility is also only two miles away from the company’s old location.
“We were incredibly fortunate to find such a great space so close to our previous location,” said Mike Glavin, founder, in a statement. “We had hoped to limit the impact the relocation would have on our contractors, suppliers and employees.”
The building is also close to local highways and provides easy access to the hardwood flooring distributor’s customer base, he added.
Since the fire in May, Philly Floor has been operating out of a 3,000-square-foot space in Aston, Pa., that was provided by a local business owner who heard about the fire.
The fire started early in the morning on May 17 and wiped out the company’s entire inventory of products, including more than 10,000 SKUs, and its trucks, machine repair instruments, computers, forklifts and Internet servers.
“It’s our entire life’s work burned up. Twenty-two years,” founder Maurice Glavin said in a video released days after the fire.
The company will move into its new location in early 2016. Features of the previous location, such as the pro shop, repair center and showroom, will be built at the new location as well.
