An estimated $30,000-worth of tools were stolen from a Portland, Ore.-based hardwood flooring company last week, KOIN 6 News reports.
An employee of D-Lux Hardwood Floors arrived at work March 6 to find the windows of the company’s fleet of vans smashed and doors flung open; the edgers, compressors, nail guns, dust containment bags and more tools that were locked in the vans were missing.
Some of the equipment not taken from the scene were arranged in a way that looked as if the thieves intended to return, according to the report.
The company had equipment left at job sites at the time of the theft that it is able to use while authorities investigate the theft.
“What personal tools we had we just shared amongst the crews and we’re just trying to get through today and make it into next week with, hopefully, some tools back,” Nicholas Lux of D-Lux told KOIN. “We just kind of came together as a team.”
Police are reviewing security footage for leads. People in the area have also been advised to keep an eye out for deals on secondhand hardwood flooring tools that appear “too good to be true.”
