As "Floormula6: The Definitive Guide to Marketing Your Hardwood Flooring Business" author Glenn Griffin tells you in "How to Know if Your Wood Flooring Business Lead-Gen Sources Work," you need to track returns from lead generation in your business. Here's another type of return you should be tracking: social media traffic. Are your efforts paying off with hits on your website? Here's how to tell.
Connect your website to Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a powerful online application that gives you in-depth data on traffic to your website. Best of all, it's free. Google Analytics can show you which pages your visitors go to most often, how much time they spend on your site and where the visitors are coming from, including social media feeds.
Determine your top social media referrers. Track which social media channel gives you the most traffic in Google Analytics by clicking Acquisition, then Social, then Network Referrals. With that information, you can invest more time in the channels that give you the greatest return.
Find which pages get the most social media hits. Click Acquisition, then Social, then Landing Pages to see the most popular pages on your website with your social media audience. You can use this information to guide your social media strategy. Find the social media post that linked to the top result and try to understand why that post was so successful, then emulate that post in future social media updates.
