The old town of Pasadena has begun embracing lighter brown stains for its historic oak floors.
Like many places around the country, there was an uptick in requests for gray stains in Pasadena, Calif., several years ago, says Justin Jones of Sunwest Hardwood Floors. More recently, however, demand is rising for lighter brown tones on the town’s abundance of red oak and white oak floors. “Pasadena is an old town and we have a lot of wood floors here, a lot of strip flooring,” Jones says. The Golden Oak or Chestnut DuraSeal stains are easier to maintain and provide more of a timeless look for the area’s historic floors, he adds.
